Black to white project

We were given a few days with specific instructions where the first of ten pages starts half black and half white, then the tenth page either all black or all white. The rest was up to us.
I gave my one a very 'There will be blood' feel if any of you have seen that.
Hopefully I don't need to explain what my one is about!

I failed this task (The black on the first page was supposed to be on the top) If it was actually going to print I would have done that! Ah well I'm pretty happy with it

The worlds most delicate box

Well today has been a pretty hectic day.
This morning we got set a brief: 'You are to draw a colourless box that exists in space, if it is opened it will kill everything'.
I thought if it is truly colourless how can I draw it? So I overlapped pieces of paper to let different amounts of light through. (I also made a concertina where viewed from one direction you could see the square, but from the other side you couldn't)

Then we got a much nicer brief later on in the day which gave a few choices.
I chose 'The worlds most delicate box'.

OceanSkyLight Myspace layout and Luis Cook - The Pearce sisters

These guys gave me the pleasure of making them a layout.

Life has been very busy recently! Moved to foggy London town in to some halls which are an hour to an hour and a half away from uni, £5.20 a day to get to, and 4 buses. Just started Illustration and the course is 5 days a week, 10 til 5. YEP TIRED

Anyway here is OceanSkyLight's Myspace with my lovely new layout

We had a lecture from Luis Cook today from Aardman animation.
He is an award winning illustrator and animator, gave an incredibly inspiring talk, and showed us a bit of his work which recently includes work on Wallace and Gromit and the Duracell bunny advert (complete with a making of).

The high point of this was BAFTA winning 'The Pearce Sisters' by Luis.
Just watch it!

Unfortunately I couldn't embed but here are some pictures to convince you the hassle of clicking above is worth it.

As you can tell the sea in the layout is hugely inspired by Cook's waves. Bed time I'm knackered.

Urban exploration - Summerlands, a school and Chartham asylum

Me and my pals have recently discovered something called 'Urbexing' or Urban Exploration. It's been really fun searching for abandoned places and wetting ourselves walking through them, we have found some strange, strange things..

Cable tied prosthetic leg above a doorway in a room full of old life story photos was probably the highlight.

First up, Summerlands care home in Westgate, Kent. It is only recently abandoned (2 years or so) but its surprising what can be found
Now I don't normally do 'proper' photography hence some really shoddy photos, but I had to document these weird things

Roof and ceiling had completely collapsed

Other things we found in here was a completely flooded basement, we almost walked straight into it the water was so still, and there was still water running through which was the eeriest sound.

Then another day we went to a school, I can't remember where it is. Somewhere where there's trees and that.

(This was in a shop on the way there, just liked the old feel of it)

Now on to Chartham asylum, this place was very strange. We went there at night in a little convoy.

Definitely a bat.
Someone cut themselves on glass on the way in (none of my friends luckily)
Saw some nice wall paintings, then realised it was a guy from my foundation year that did them. Love Pat.

New T shirt design

Was considering starting this post with 'sup blawg'. But I didn't.
Here is the new tee design as part of the final 6 or 7 that are ready for print in around a month when I can get going properly at uni, really looking forward to it.

Not too sure about wether to keep the back print, I think I'll drop that
